Mantha comes to the Blizzard with a wealth of experience both playing and coaching throughout many levels of pro and amateur hockey. Mantha enjoyed a 12 year career in the NHL playing for the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Minnesota North Stars. Mantha was also a member of Team USA at the 1992 Olympics. He began his coaching career in 1994 with the Columbus Chill in the ECHL. From there he went on to coach the Cincinnati Might Ducks, affiliate of Anaheim in the AHL. After his time in pro minor league hockey, Mantha coached for 4 years in the NAHL with stints for the USNTDP in Ann Arbor and most recently with the Michigan Warriors. Mantha also coached in Canadian major junior hockey with the Windsor Spitfires, and the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL. Born outside of Cleveland in Lakewood, Ohio Mantha resides in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario with Kathy his wife of 35 years, and three children Ashley, Devin, and Brody.
Devin has joins the Blizzard Staff as the Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. Devin comes to the Blizzard with a wealth of experience, spending the past 5 years playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and amassing a whopping 200 points. During his time in the SPHL, Devin earned a Community Service Award, spent three years in as a leader in the Mississippi RiverKings Organization, and tied two SPHL records (most points in a single game – 7; and most goals in a single game – 5). Prior to professional hockey, Devin attended the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where they won a DIII National Championship (2013), and left with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Leadership. Prior to Eau Claire, Devin attended the University of Miami – Ohio, where they clinched a CCHA regular season title and a Frozen Four spot in 2010.
Michael Earhart comes to the Blizzard with 18 years of junior hockey experience. He has worn many hats from coaching in the NAHL for 8 years, Head Scout for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL, 3 years assistant and director of player personnel of the Iron Range Yellow Jackets of the MJHL where he helped the team to back to back National Championship runner-ups. He also has been part of the USHL as a scout and director of player personnel for the Chicago Steel where he delivered there first Eastern Division Championship. Also was part of the Bismarck Bobcats as Director of Player Personnel where helped them to a Robertson Cup Championship. He currently is the GM of Flexx hockey academy where he works as a skills coach and power skating coach. He resides in Grand Rapids, MN with his wife Alyssa and three children Samantha, Greyson and Emmerson.
Since 2015- Erik has served as the Goaltending Development Coordinator with USA Hockey in the Southern affiliate. Currently he is also the Director of Hockey and Hockey Operations for the Pelham Civic Complex- the home of the SPHL Birmingham Bulls and the University of Alabama Hockey. Coach Hudson started his coaching career with NCAA Lake Forest College, where he served as the Assistant Coach and Goaltending Coach. Erik played his junior hockey in the BCHL for the Burnaby Express, collegiately for Iowa State University as a four year starter and All American, he also spent time with two teams in the SPHL. Internationally, Coach Hudson played for Team USA at the World University Games in 2011 and has coached the Romanian National Under 20 and Under 18 teams. Erik lives in Pelham, Alabama with his wife Amanda and daughter Jocelyn Rose.
Coach Hudson will oversee all recruitment of goaltenders for Brookings, as well as the development for current and future Blizzard goaltenders, with the ultimate goal of helping these players move on to play NCAA hockey.
