Kevin Shand Ground Round Player of the Week

This week's Ground Round Player of the Week Spotlight is highlighting 6'2" Forward #20 Kevin Shand! Kevin was born July 29th, 2995 and is from Saline, Michigan and the son of David and Sue Shand. He just joined the Blizzard in a trade with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL. In addition to playing for the Blues, Kevin has seen ice time for Cedar Rapids in the USHL as well. During his time in Brookings, he is staying with Dan and Suzanne Stluka.

Kevin Shand is a Detroit Red Wings fan of course, considering his upbringing in Michigan, and his favorite NHL player is Max Pacioretty. He is really enjoying Brookings because of none other than Qdoba Mexican Grill, which he says is his favorite food. If you're looking for Kevin outside of the hockey rink and Qdoba, you may be out of luck, as he spends much of his time watching Gossip Girl episodes. Kevin's favorite color is Tar Heel blue, and his favorite movie is Miracle.

Before junior hockey, he spent time playing hockey at a boarding school for three years. Kevin also has seen time on the football field in high school as well. A little uniqueness about Kevin is that he is technically half American, and half Canadian! He is also very special in the fact that he has a twin sister.

Make sure to come to the Blizzard vs. Aberdeen game tomorrow, Friday, December 19th at 7:15pm and watch Kevin on the big screen during our intermissions. Kevin Shand cards will be on their way and available at a later date.
