Host Family Meeting

The Blizzard will be holding an informational meeting on Monday, August 6th for anyone who would like additional information about hosting a Blizzard player this season.  Join coaches, owners and front office staff at the Larson Ice Center at 6:30pm to ask questions about the billet family program.  Athletes will be moving to Brookings from all over the country the first week of September and will live here through the end of the season in April.

Host families play a vital role in the junior hockey experience. The team encourages everyone to attend. There are no requirements for what we look for in housing families, only that you provide the young man his own bedroom, meals during the week, as well as support throughout the year. Whether you have kids in hockey, children in college, or no children at all, housing a Blizzard player can be very rewarding experience.  Housing families build a unique relationship with their player and the team.  It is not uncommon for players to remain in contact with their billet family years after their time playing for the Blizzard.  Follow the success of former Blizzard players as they take their skills to the collegiate and professional levels.

If you would like additional information or would like to volunteer to host a player, please email Riley Courtright at riley@gobrookingsblizzard.com.
