November 18th Janesville at Brookings
The Blizzard were looking to turn the tides Saturday night at the Larson Ice Center, and complete a sweep against a Jet team that came to Brookings last year and swept the Blizzard. Andrei Denyskin scored his team leading 12th goal to give the Blizzard an early lead. Vince Marino added a power play goal towards the end of the first for a 2-0 lead after one. Griff Sanom set up Connor Koviak eight minutes into the second with a beautiful centering pass that Koviak tipped in for a 3-0 Blizzard lead. Janesville came back with one to pull within two entering the third. Brookings couldn’t ask for a better start to the 3rd period when Doug Larson took a feed from Denyskin at center ice, split the Janesville defense, and found himself all alone on the Jets goaltender where he deked to his backhand and scored for a 4-1 Blizzard lead. Janesville scored twice to make it interesting, but Jimmy Elser sealed the game with his empty netter off two hardworking assists from linemates Marino and Josh Boyer for a 5-3 Blizzard victory. Next game Brookings @Minot Friday at 7:35.
