Brookings came to Austin Saturday night with a chance to force a first place tie atop the Central Division. Austin on the strength of their second ranked power play jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Brookings came back to cut the lead to one on Chase Brand’s 7th of the season, but the Bruins scored two late goals in the second period for a 4-1 lead after two. Brookings pulled to within two on Connor Koviak’s power play goal, but the Bruins added an empty netter moments later to seal the victory. Brookings host the Bismarck Bobcats Friday and Saturday night at the Larson Ice Center.
