Blizzard Name Kyle Grabowski Assistant Coach

The Brookings Blizzard, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce the hiring of Kyle Grabowski as assistant coach.

 

Grabowski joins the Blizzard staff after spending the last four seasons with the Idaho Junior Steelheads of the Western States Hockey League. He served as an assistant for three years and was named head coach and general manager of the Steelheads in April 2013.

 

In 2013-2014, coach Grabowski lead the Steelheads to a 39-5-2 record during the regular season, a first place finish in the WSHL Northwest Division, and second place finish in the AAU-UHU Tier III National Championship.

 

During his four seasons in Idaho, the Steelheads had a combined record of 155-9-7, won 3 consecutive Throne Cup Championships (2011, 2012, 2013), and won the AAU-UHU National Championship in 2013. 

 

Before coaching at the junior level, Kyle coached in the Tartan Youth Hockey Association (Oakdale, MN) and was Major Team Director.

 

He was a member of the Marian University hockey program from 2003-2007 and played high school hockey at Tartan High School in Oakdale, MN.

 

Grabowski will replace former Blizzard assistant coach Chris Olson, who as decided to pursue other business opportunities away from hockey.

 

The Blizzard will host their Open/Futures Camp in Rogers, MN July 13-15 and their Final Main Camp August 3-5 in Alexandria, MN. The regular season starts September 17th at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. The Blizzard will host the Aberdeen Wings on September 27th for their home opener.
