Blizzard Lose In OT Thriller

Dec 1st Brookings at Janesville

Janesville 6-5 OT

Brookings headed into Janesville Friday night with 2-0 record against the Jets after a weekend sweep in Brookings two weeks ago. Janesville scored late in the first period, but Brookings came back with the answer just one minute into the second when Doug Larson scored off a centering feed from Andrei Denyskin. The Blizzard took a 2-1 lead ten minutes later when Chase Brand found himself all alone in front and buried his 4th of the year on the power play Doug Larson and Josh Boyer got the assists. Max Sasson scored his 4th of the year five minutes later for a 3-1 lead. Carson Kosebud picked up the assist. Janesville came roaring back in the third with three power play goals within a minute to go up 4-3 with fifteen minutes to play. Larson had the answer again four minutes later scoring his 12th of the year. Janesville again took the lead with just over six minutes to play. The way the night was going you had a feeling it wasn’t over. Parker Revering, on the week he made his division I commitment, and with the extra attacker on the ice, sent the game into overtime with his 2nd goal of the season off a shot from the high slot with just 3 seconds on the clock. Chase Brand set him up after the Blizzard showed great poise holding onto the puck with the final seconds ticking down. Unfortunately Janesville came away with the extra point, and the Blizzard find themselves two points out of first in the Central. Brookings will close out the series at Janesville Saturday night at 7pm.
