Blizzard Fall Short in Finale

April 6 Brookings at Minnesota

Minnesota 4-3

Brookings looked to keep Minnesota from securing home ice in their regular season finale. The Wilderness needed a win and an Austin loss to host the first round of the playoffs. Gino Lucia gave the Wilderness a first period lead midway through, and Luke Dow extended the lead to 2-0 during the first minute of the second. Brookings responded with two goals in a six minute span from Tyler Hinterser, and Vince Marino, but the Wilderness answered with two of their own for a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. Cam Babiak pulled the Blizzard within a goal three minutes in, but that’s as close as they could get as Minnesota tightened up defensively and finished off the weekend sweep.
