Blizzard Down Jets

November 17th Janesville at Brookings

Brookings 4-3 OT

Brookings entered the weekend three points out of first place in the Central Division, and looking to snap a four game skid as the hosted the Janesville Jets. Brookings showed that determination in the first period jumping out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Doug Larson and Josh Boyer. Larson picked up a loose puck in the slot and buried his 9th of the season two and a half minutes in, and Boyer worked to get a shorthanded breakaway scoring his 7th on a rebound attempt. The Jets propelled their way back into game with two in the second, but Andrei Denyskin scored his team leading 11th goal from out front on a back hand in the last minute of the 2nd to give the Blizzard a 3-2 lead heading into the third. Janesville scored a late goal to send the game into OT where the Blizzard were awarded a power play when the Jet’s Kip Hoffman bulldozed Blizzard goalie Zach Borgiel. Jimmy Elser ended the night moments later with his 6th of the year, off a beautiful feed from Cameron Teamor and Brendan Aird. Borgiel made a number of clutch saves stopping 22 for his 4th win.
