Blizzard Cool the Chill

 

The Brookings Blizzard beat the Coulee Region Chill 5-1 Friday night at the Larson Ice Center. Evan Hesse scored two goals including the game winner midway through the second period propelling the Blizzard to their ninth win. His performance earned him the game’s number one star. Thomas Williams started the scoring on a shorthanded breakaway eight minutes into the first. Justin Moody and Drew Brevig also scored for the Blizzard as they remain one point out of first place. Eric Brenk had two assists and Eric Majerle improved to 4-0 with the victor between the pipes and earned the second star of the game.

On Saturday night the Blizzard earned their tenth win of the season on the road beating the Chill once again, sweeping the weekend series.   The Blizzard took the lead in the first period when Solva Kramerev scored 7:12 into the period. Drew Brevig assisted on the goal.  Thomas Williams continues to be impressive scoring two goals in the second and third period.  Jordan Stejskal had two assists, while Nick DeCenzo and Cody Marooney each tallied one. Matt Williams scored the Chill’s only goal.  Drew Weigman recorded 24 saves for the Blizzard. 

The Blizzard (10-3) will be back in action this Thursday and Friday when they travel to Aberdeen to play back-to-back games against the Wings. Watch the action on fasthockey.com.
